Samsara
Hindu and Buddhist concept of the cycle of death and rebirth. Beings are reborn according to karma in various realms of existence. Samsara is characterized by suffering (dukkha) and impermanence. The cycle continues until liberation is achieved. Rebirth is not reincarnation of a soul but continuation of karmic patterns. Understanding samsara motivates spiritual practice. The goal is not better rebirth but escape from the cycle. Samsara and nirvana are ultimately not separate.
