Synchronicity
Jungian concept of meaningful coincidences that cannot be explained by causality. Synchronicity occurs when inner psychological state corresponds to outer events without causal connection. Jung developed this concept with physicist Wolfgang Pauli, suggesting acausal connecting principle in nature. Examples include thinking of someone who then calls, or dreams that predict events. Synchronicity implies underlying unity between psyche and matter. The concept challenges materialist causality and suggests participation mystique with reality. Recognition of synchronicity can guide individuation.
