Enantiodromia

Jungian principle that everything eventually turns into its opposite. Borrowed from Heraclitus, enantiodromia describes how one-sided development leads to reversal. Extreme rationality may flip to irrationality; excessive control to chaos. The psyche seeks balance—when consciousness becomes too one-sided, the unconscious compensates. Midlife crises often involve enantiodromia as personas collapse. The principle warns against extremism and suggests embracing paradox. Understanding enantiodromia prevents identification with temporary states and encourages dialectical thinking.
