Thoth
God of writing, wisdom, magic, and the moon. Thoth invented hieroglyphs and serves as scribe of the gods, recording judgments of the dead. His association with measurement, time, and magic made him patron of scholars. Later identified with Hermes, spawning Hermetic tradition. Thoth represents knowledge, communication, divine wisdom, and the power of words. His ibis head symbolizes discernment and the probing intellect.
